Rome
The eternal city of Italy where the ancient ruins evoke the power of the great Roman Empire
My family and I started our two week Italian vacation in Rome. We stayed in a hotel outside of the city that provided a bus for us. We went to all the main attractions such as the Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Spanish Steps. It was a great start to our vacation and it was really cool seeing the old ruins of the Roman Empire. We also took a trip to Vatican City, which is a definite must if you're visiting Rome. It is within Rome but surrounded by walls separating the two. We also took a day trip to Pompeii to see the ruins leftover from the Mt. Vesuvius eruption. On the way back from Pompeii, we stopped in Naples and got a great view of the sea and Capri. There were times that we got lost in the streets of Rome but getting lost was okay because the view was great.
