The other thing I hate about Hong Kong though is how expensive cheese is. I spent almost 40 USD alone on two bags of mild cheddar, one bag of mozzarella, one tub of cream cheese, a carton of cream, and a couple sticks of butter. Don't worry I didn't use all the butter in the mac and cheese. It's so annoying how expensive that and berries are! But was successful in producing mac and cheese, which I definitely needed.
I also made apple pie and it was a disaster. I was hungover from the night before and definitely wasn't in the mood to get up early to bake this pie. But it's not Thanksgiving without apple pie so had to power through. I made the bottom crust and filling perfect. Then I tried making the top crust. The first time I tried, I failed so I threw it out. The second time I tried, I failed again so I threw it out and called it a day. Therefore, my pie had no top. Oops.
During the potluck, my British friends (who have never been to a Thanksgiving dinner) asked if we're supposed to go around and say what we're thankful for. I thought that was hilarious because the last time I did that was elementary school. However, I felt reminiscent of home. I'm jealous that all my friends are back home and together and I miss driving with Domingo and Edel to Pennsylvania to see my grandma. I miss attempting to go Black Friday shopping and just giving up. But, at the same time, I didn't even realize it was Thanksgiving/almost December. I'm excited for their Christmas break so I can just catch up on sleep and just relax.
Just traveling the world and sharing my adventures and experiences.
