My stay in Kuala Lumpur was very short but great nonetheless! Since I sprained my ankle, I spent afternoon/evening resting in the Airbnb and walking around. The host I stayed with was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She told me a lot about Malaysia and made me a home cooked meal, which was absolutely amazing. Not sure what the fish was but the curry that accompanied it was so good. The next morning she made me breakfast as well and it was sooooo good! It was tapioca with shredded coconut plus rice of course and small fried fish. I definitely want to try and make the tapioca and coconut dish when I get home!
Since my flight wasn't leaving until 9 PM, I decided to explore the city. Unfortunately, since my ankle was still sprained, I had to take it slow.
Obviously visited the Petronas Towers while I was here. Most people go to the towers and pay so much to go to the top but I wanted a view of the towers. So to get an actual good view of the towers, I went to Traders Hotel (right across the park) and up to the SkyBar. The view from the bar is amazing! Not only that but you can take a dip in the pool as well. So I spent most of the morning just enjoying the view with a drink.
Afterwards, I decided to go to the Botanic Gardens. This massive park is right in the city center and has a Bird Parl, the National Museum, and Mosque right next to it.
If I had more time, I would have explored more of the markets but am happy that I got to see the high rise towers and enjoy a more local home for a little bit. I felt that I got a good feel even with the short time there. Another thing I want to try when I go back is the Helipad Bar on top of the Petronas Towers. A couple people I met on this trip said there's a bar on top of the Petronas Towers and it used to be a helicopter pad. So there are no railings and you get a good view of the city. It's only open at night and will be on my list for next time!
Just traveling the world and sharing my adventures and experiences.
