The weather outside has been beautiful (but hot) the last few days so I hate being cooped up in the office. However, right now I don't mind it at all since it is pouring down so hard outside. The weather reminds me a lot of Miami because it can get unbearably hot and muggy but hopefully it will go down when the school year starts.
The last week has been a little boring just because classes haven't started yet. I take a 15 minutes metro from Tsim Sha Tsui to Kwai Fong where I transfer to a bus that takes another 15-20 minutes to Park Island. When I get to the school, I go over the lesson plans that the previous English teacher has left. Finally, I take the opposite route home. Then, this cycle repeats.
I can't wait for classes to start because it gets boring when you're just confined to a chair for 7 hours a day but I'm also nervous. Although, I have taught classes in English before nevertheless, I still have nerves. It definitely helps that the past English teacher was so organized because every little thing is filled out and accessible. The only thing I had to change was the introduction slide since I'm from the United States and not Canada.
What is also interesting is that I won't actually start teaching until September 14th. I'm not quite sure why but that is how the schedule is set. I like this because I will be able to adjust to their school days and get in the swing of things before I actually start teaching. I will be teaching P2-P4 with total of about 450 students. Here's to hopefully remembering all of their names!
